1. Paddy's Path: Revisiting History

Time: 20 minutes each way

Difficulty: Easy

Our journey begins at the end of Stanway Drive in Separation Creek, just a stone's throw from the Great Ocean Road. Paddy's Path, a beloved route between Wye River and Separation Creek, offers not just scenic splendor but also a glimpse into history. As you ascend the path, imagine the timber tramway that once transported precious cargo from Separation Creek to the original Wye River jetty in the early 1900s.
The track meanders along a gravel path, providing breathtaking vantage points that overlook the vast expanse of the ocean, rugged cliffs, and fascinating rock formations. Take a moment to soak in the stunning vistas, offering a panoramic view of Wye Beach as you near the end of the trail, just a few hundred meters from the legendary Wye General Cafe.

2. Beach Walk: Nature's Artistry at its Finest

Time: 25 minutes each way

Difficulty: Easy, excluding a slightly slippery rock section at high tide (not suitable for prams or strollers) Immerse yourself in the rhythmic sounds of crashing waves as we embark on the captivating beach walk between Wye River and Separation Creek. Start at the meeting point of Separation Creek and the sea, and allow nature's artistry to unfold before your eyes.

As you meander along the sandy shoreline, take notice of the beautifully weathered ancient rocks that form an endless series of patterns and shapes sculpted by tides and wind. During low tide, explore the rock pools that dot the midway of the walk, revealing a hidden world teeming with marine life.

Be sure to tread carefully at the Wye end, as a section of rock can become slippery at high tide. However, this minor obstacle pales in comparison to the awe-inspiring sights that surround us.

Extended Beach Walks: Uncover More Coastal Gems

1. Westward Journey: Towards Apollo Bay

For the avid adventurers, continue west from Wye River towards Apollo Bay. Discover the remnants of two abandoned piers, remnants of an era long gone. Marvel at Point Sturt's magnificent rocks below the transmitter station, forming a natural mini amphitheater and a favored fishing spot for locals and visitors alike.

2. Northern Route: Towards Lorn

Starting from the beach at Separation Creek, venture north towards Lorne for a truly scenic experience. The route encompasses a series of mini beaches and rock shelves, allowing you to appreciate the raw beauty of this rugged coastline. Be amazed by the wind-eroded caves in the soft rock and the striking black layers that reveal the turbulent geological past of this region.
